Husband of one, father of four and grandfather of three and a former overworked lawyer, John Bieber is the author of If Divorce is the Only Way (Penguin) which he wrote to help divorcees avoid having a bad divorce follow a bad marriage.

Realising that there was a vacuum of understanding about the role that emotions play in our lives the obvious question arose “How can we function as sophisticated human beings when we can neither understand nor control our emotions?” This book, Am I Loved, answers that question.

The author resides in rural Sussex with his wife, where he endeavours to live in accordance with the philosophy explained in this book.

“There are very few books that, after coming to the last page, I feel the urge to re-read again from the beginning. “Am I loved?” Is one of those few. After the first full read, I went back to various chapters and read them again and I know I will be re-reading it in its entirety many times.

This book intrigued me. I am an ordinary human being. I have been through divorce as well as widowhood. I digested the questions “Am I loved” or “Am I surviving?” I am now at an age in my late eighties when I know for sure the answer to “Am I loved?” Great age does not always bring wisdom but in this case, I know exactly what the author is saying.  read more….

“Am I Loved? is a thought-provoking, beautifully written book which explores the human condition from an entirely original perspective. It continues where Richard Dawkins and Steven Pinker left off presenting a carefully evidenced understanding of life which is ground breaking int its implications. The blend of philosophy and psychology theory takes the reader on a unique journey and, as a psychiatrist, I found the level of theoretical integration both sound and successful. It provides a new understanding of a universal experience which was previously hardly understood at all. This is an important book.”

“Bieber’s latest book will get you thinking in new ways about the very basis of personal fulfilment and happiness. This thought provoking work is insightful and stimulating and written in an almost poetic style. Both personal and scholarly, an exceptional work that will appeal to those seeking deeper meaning in their relationship.”

Jeremy N. White, author of Schools for the 21st Century, former Chief Executive of the Prince’s Business Trust and Visiting Professor, Cass Business School, London.

“Anyone wishing to explore a uniquely interesting, highly relevant approach to problems common to us all, will find much to stimulate their senses in this unusual and fascinating book. Many techniques are original and engaging. This book is an intensely personal, philosophical construct which should be of huge interest to a wide audience.”

Dr Herb Etkin, fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, formerly Medical Director Ticehurst House Hospital and Counsellor to Eton College

“John Bieber has tackled the most tricky’ subject on earth in an imaginative and thought provoking way, embracing original concepts such as the Supreme Sense and the Speechless Real in an original and engaging manner.”
